ART & ACTI VITIES

Most activities at the Sleepy Hollow Mermaid Festival are free with admission, but some activities including face painting, and hair styling have a fee to take part. All proceeds help to support the artists bringing the activities to the event.

Costume Contest

Register to walk in the parade to take part in this year’s Mermaid Festival costume contest! Many trophies will be given to those whether you have fins, legs, fur or all of the above.

Art Making

Join Strawtown Studio, ArtsWestchester’s Artsmobile, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and more to create river inspired art.

Mermaid Fest logo artist Erwin Ong of A Duck a Muck will be back with pin making.

River’s Edge Theater will be on stage leading the Costume Contest and you keep an eye out for their booth for some fun puppet making.

There will also be hands-on tinkering with Brooklyn Robot Foundry and craft making with Shake It Off Westchester.

Mermaid Salon

Get your mermaid glam on! Face Painting by Imagine Face Painting and A Party with a Plan. Hair braiding and wraps by SparkleUp. Henna and hair tinsel by Heavenly Events.


Little Genii Puppet Show

Little Genii Puppets presents Hans Christian Andersen’s classic The Little Mermaid in two performances at 1pm and 3pm.


Tarot Readings

Buoy, the Brooklyn Mermaid, also known as “The Briny Oracle,” will be offering free tarot readings during the festival. Buoy invites guests to step into a whimsical world of intuition and seaside magic.


Field Games

For all the leggy land lubbers, J Sports Academy courtesy of the Shames JCC will bring field games and a gaga ball pit for kids and adults alike to enjoy.
